Henslee Recruiting Services (HRS) began in December 2001. Our first contract was created through the encouragement of our first client, Mr. Bob Katz, VP of R&D at a VC-funded start-up in Silicon Valley. Our mission was to find and hire a handful of highly coveted electrical and mechanical engineers. From this partnership, Henslee Recruiting Services was organically born. From conception, we’ve partnered with start-up companies (Symphonics/Advanced Bionics, Revivant, Visogen, Visijet, USGI Medical, Orthofix, Minimed, Alfred Mann Institute, Respironix, MicroTherapeutics, to name a few) specializing in medical device technology development.
Through the years, we continue contributing to our client’s success. Some have been acquired and/or grown into medium to large-size companies like Medtronic and Johnson & Johnson. Several of our clients’ technologies expanded into drug/device combination products. HRS expanded into the biopharmaceutical world, partnering with Novo Nordisk, Baxter BioScience, FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific, and BioNTech.
What makes HRS different is that following two decades of experience in agency search firms and in-house corporate recruitment, we found that the best results come from intimate partnerships aligning with our values and mission. One of our key values is Time. Time is precious and too much of it is wasted. We've heard the agony, frustration and discouragement expressed by too many talented professionals as they consider or actively seek new employment. The time invested in applying and interviewing hasn't provided a return of their investment. This has fueled our revolutionary Talent Representation services called Talent Advocates - launched June 2024!
Another key value is never placing a fee over the well-being of our candidate and client. Too many times, we experienced search firms operating like a “boiler” room. Thus, creating questionable motives because their business is hyper-focused on collecting that fee. Too many times, the professional is lost. We know this is a bold statement, but we are bold and honest! We believe you get what you pay for, and when a business operates with this structure, integrity, transparency, and honesty tend to be jeopardized. Thus, HRS is revolutionizing Talent Representation with the launch of Talent Advocates in June 2024!

I'm Kathryn Henslee, a creative problem solver representing and empowering both life sciences professionals and high-growth life sciences companies. I'm based in Irvine, California, and have placed over 3,000 professionals within the medical device and biopharmaceutical industries.
Operating with integrity, tenacity, passion, and dedication, I have built a strong reputation in the industries and people I serve. With my extensive experience in both in-house corporate and agency recruitment, I understand the daily pressures professionals and companies experience with finding and retaining top Talent.
